Aquaji Terminology

List of Aquaji terms and descriptions

ACQUISITION

Aquaji camera detection mode where the software calculates the number of visits based on footfalls (body shape detection - no ID) and recognition (facial shape detection - with ID).

In this mode, Aquaji counts foot-traffic and classifies each individual visitor by their attributes:

    • Age
    • Gender
    • New and returning visitors
ALERT

Alerts are triggered by a player whenever there is an issue, such as when a video stream is no longer detected. Alerts are accessible via the ALERT-EVENT table.

ATTENTION SPAN

Aquaji camera detection mode where the software calculates how long passers-by look at a given area or digital signage screen.

In this mode, Aquaji will measure the appeal of a product layout or digital signage content, including advertising campaigns and audience classification. In order to achieve this, Aquaji calculates the field of vision to determine whether the display or product is counted as an Opportunity to See (OTS) or a conversion.

CAMERA

The name given to the Aquaji capture device. Aquaji supports two types of cameras, IP-based and USB webcams. Cameras are always connected to a PC or Android device called an edge player or edge player.

CONTEXT-AWARE

In relation to Digital Signage, refers to the ability to alter the content shown on screen using Aquaji's Computer-Vision capabilities. When paired with Navori's QL digital signage software, content can be shown based on the audience's profile as configured in the Aquaji software.

CONVERSION

In marketing analytics, a conversion is recorded when a person completes a desired goal, such as when someone pays attention to a product, a digital screen or other visual interaction.

EVENT

Events are representative of the software's normal functions. Events are retrieved from each player and stored in the software's database. Events are accessible via the ALERT-EVENT table.

EDGE PLAYER

Edge player are the devices to which your cameras are connected.  An Edge player can be a Windows PC or a specially configured Android device.

FOOTFALL

The number of body shapes that were detected by the camera. This number tends to be higher than people counts because there is less information available. Perhaps the person was too far, moving too quickly, or their face was hidden. There is no gender or age range data available for this count.

ID

Unique code assigned to individuals based on their facial shapes. Used to determine if a person is a returning visitor or to exclude staff members from visitor counts.

PEOPLE COUNT

The number of individuals (people) that were detected by the camera. When an individual is detected and their face is visible, their gender and age range is recorded. This is more precise than footfall counts.

OPPORTUNITY TO SEE (OTS)

Opportunity to see is a term which refers to an advertising campaign and the number of exposures or opportunities which a particular audience has to see a specific advert, product or digital signage screen.

STATUS

A color indicator that provides information about the state of a player. Status colors are red (offline or off), yellow (issue detected) or green (working).

LENGTH OF STAY

Aquaji camera detection mode that tracks how long visitors spend in a monitored area. Requires two cameras (inbound/outbound) for most accurate readings.

In this mode, Aquaji measures each visitors length of stay to assess the appeal of a particular store area, and the interest shown by visitors in the range of products on display

TYPE

The intended use of a camera. Aquaji lets users configure cameras based on the following uses: Acquisition, Length of Stay, Waiting in Line and Attention Span.

WAITING IN LINE

Aquaji camera detection mode where the software calculates the time visitors spend waiting in line (for queue management).

In this mode Aquaji can be used to:

    • Assess the customer experience
    • Optimize the allocation of human resources
    • Evaluate employee performance
